Construction Industry Council (CIC) as a partner in ConstructionSkills (CSkills), have completed a review of the national occupational standards (NOS) for Built Environment Design on behalf of the sector, and is seeking confirmation that the standards are fit for purpose, with responses due by 13 September.

CIC invites participation in our on line consultation.
These standards cover all the main built environment design disciplines (e.g. architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, specialist design and manufacturing). They have been developed by industry practitioners and interested professional bodies to serve a wide range of design disciplines, including civil & structural design, building surveying, architectural technology and designers in specialist construction areas. These standards apply to designers who work on new build, alterations, repairs, refurbishment and conservation projects.
NOS development has focussed on integrating new industry practices relating to sustainability, energy use, low carbon and Building Information Modelling. These standards will help to inform the development of skills curricula and qualifications across the sector.
