Scottish Government supports HES chair amid resignation reports

The Scottish Government has said it will support the chair of Historic Environment Scotland to ‘resolve the leadership and governance issues’ amid reports of his impending resignation, reports Deadline News.

It comes after The Herald reported on Wednesday that Sir Mark Jones, chair of Historic Environment Scotland (HES), was understood to be preparing to step down from his position… Described as ‘one of the most respected museum leaders in the world’, Jones was brought in to help the troubled quango.

… a Scottish Government spokesperson told Deadline News: ‘… The Culture Secretary and the Scottish Government will continue to support him in this endeavour to resolve the leadership and governance issues that have been raised.’
