IHBC’s newest CPD Circular, which lists accessible and cost-effective ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD) on our networks, has been simplified, with tighter ties to our Events Calendar, colour coding of provider categories.
IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘Our officers and consultants have put lots of work into refining and improving one of our most prestigious publications. It should be said too that this work also substantially reduces the cost to us of this free, open access and sector-wide service.
‘I’m delighted that in this first sortie in the new style it has so much to offer, and even more delighted to thank those involved for their hard work in helping make this new format so engaging.’
‘And whether you are primarily offering CPD or planning your own – IHBC members, to some degree anyway, are and much more – including the ‘Director’s Spotlight’, all help streamline your CPD planning.

IHBC writes:
…A very warm welcome to the January edition of the CPD Circular
As we welcome a new year, we are pleased to introduce a simplified format to the popular IHBC CPD Circular which we hope will provide a more streamlined and integrated guide to forthcoming CPD events for January and a taster of events coming in February.
Beyond these first two months, a varied and interesting CPD Events Calendar is already beginning to take shape for 2026 – a highlight being the IHBC Annual School in Newcastle from the 18 – 20 June, on Adaptive Reuse.
IHBC National Office and Regional Branch Events
The year starts with an important event for members on Wednesday 7 January online – the IHBC ‘s 2026 AGM. Members can gain IHBC CPD* for the AGM starting at 5.30pm when all members are invited to join Claudia Kenyatta CBE as Historic England’s Co-Chief Executive for a short presentation, with time for questions, on ‘Historic England: NewCo-Chief Executive roles and priorities – Growth, Place, and the Heritage Sector’.
The AGM starts at 6pm and is, as ever, a critical moment in our cycle of governance and all categories of membership are strongly encouraged to attend.
Voting at the Annual General Meeting is open ONLY to Full, Associate and Retired IHBC members. Affiliates and Supporters do not have votes, but are encouraged to attend the entire programme.
*Attendance at the IHBC’s formal meetings, such as General Meetings, AGMs and Council, is recognised and certified as IHBC CPD.
….
Members wishing to pursue Associate or Full IHBC membership are invited to register for the upcoming online MATE session on 19 January between 12pm – 3pm.
Meanwhile the IHBC is delighted to invite ALL our IHBC Committees to be represented at the next online Branch Connection Event, on 22 January (2pm – 4pm). If you are a Committee member interested in joining in, please let your Branch Committee leads know.
Finally, after a busy end of year for Branches, the Scotland Branch will be in Edinburgh on 23 January hosting their AGM including a training event on Historic Building Legislation and Curtilage in Scotland.
