The IHBC’s Toolbox resource has had its latest Guidance Note update, on ‘Local Planning Authorities in England on Consulting the National Amenity Societies’, issued as a reminder to ‘local planning authorities of their statutory duty under the 2015 Direction’.
Bob Kindred MBE IHBC, Guidance Note author said: ‘The IHBC is reissuing its Guidance Note: ‘Local Planning Authorities in England on Consulting the National Amenity Societies’ partly to reflect the recent change of name of the Ancient Monuments Society to Historic Buildings and Places and partly to remind local planning authorities of their statutory duty under the 2015 Direction at a time when the Institute’s attention is being drawn to increasing and concerning anecdotal failures to do so.’
‘As the government is proposing to remove statutory consultee status from The Gardens Trust, upon whom local authorities particularly rely for advice on Grade 2 Registered Historic Parks and Gardens, the Guidance Note may be further revised to reflect the outcome.
