New guidance has been published by the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland on their process for handling off market sale requests from community groups for Church buildings
Community Councils Scotland writes:
The guidance is aimed at communities that are exploring the possibility of purchasing a church or hall building. In an Off-Market Transfer (OMT) the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland (GTs) deal exclusively with a single preferred bidder, rather than advertising the building on the open market and inviting offers. The Off-Market Transfer Guidance may be of interest to community councils, development trusts and other community groups, many of whom may be dealing with challenges relating to church building disposals.
To find out if a local church or hall building has already been identified for release, you can contact either your local Presbytery Office or the GTs at gentrustees@churchofscotland.org.uk You can view a list of Church of Scotland presbyteries and find out more on their website.
