IHBC’s ‘Special Thanks’ to 2025’s Student Award entrants, as 49 seek prizes (to £500) & places at #IHBCNewcastle2026

The IHBC has received 49 submissions to our 2025 Student Awards, all hoping that our guest judge – soon to be appointed – will choose them for the coveted and certificated Award, £500 cash, and a place at IHBC’s 2026 Annual School – #IHBCNewcastle2026 – on 18-20 June.

IHBC Director Seán O‘Reilly said: ‘On behalf of the IHBC I’d like to thank the many students who have taken the trouble to submit for our celebrated Gus Astley Annual Student Award.  Seeing the breadth, depth and diversity of submissions to this award is always both eye-opening and jaw-dropping.  And even more so this year as entrants continue to show real interest after some quieter years over the pandemic.’

‘This, our 2024-25 round had to close at the end of September, a month later than usual.  Assessment is not easy for anyone when this happens, as evaluation times are even tighter’.

‘But I know that our internal lead on the Awards, Bob Kindred, will do all he can to help keep us to schedule, with conclusions due in 2026’s first quarter.’
