IHBC SE Branch Chair and Trustee Jo Saady writes:

We have put together a great informative and social day at Pevensey Castle, Kent, and I’d like to invite you to come along. Kids and dogs, all are welcome!

This is going to be a super day, and as we all work so hard, it’s worth taking the time to pamper yourself and count CPD points!  A perfect treat – 10 till 4.

I have always found that IHBC local branch events help strengthen networks as we share stories and experiences. This promises to be a lovely informal day out. Bring a picnic!

English Heritage are providing a guide for a talk, but we will also be free to roam the castle and generally enjoy this fantastic space for a day.

If I can persuade people to join French cricket I’ll be a happy lady… or maybe croquet… anyone have a set?

And do pop in or out as well if needs be!

IHBC’s SE Branch writes:

Join us for our Branch summer gathering and site visit at Pevensey Castle, Castle Rd, Westham, Pevensey BN24 5LE, a scheduled monument in the care of English Heritage.

This is a unique opportunity to visit this historic site, a medieval castle within the fortifications of an abandoned Roman shore fort reoccupied between 1940 and 1945 for coastal defence purposes.

The day will start at 10am with a tour of Pevensey Castle, courtesy of English Heritage, and will be followed by a group networking picnic lunch at the site (BYO picnic; tea and coffee, soft drinks, biscuits, cake and some lovely local ice cream is available from site shop). Partners, families and children welcome.

Prices: English Heritage Trust members are free, non-member adults £8.10, non-member concessions (students & over 65’s) £7.29, non-member children (5-17 years) £4.86, children under 5 years free.
