David McDonald, IHBC’s Chair, said: ‘We’d like to thank our great supporter Griff Rhys Jones for taking the time to make his film endorsing our 2025 School, #IHBCShrewsbury2025 while also voicing sentiments very close to our heart.’

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘Griff’s unprompted take on heritage values reflects very well the case we make regularly to government: that the economic benefits of conservation are as substantial as its cultural and community values, and maybe even more!’

‘Indeed his pitch was a useful reflection of some of the same principles we aired in our exploration of a Charter with the Privy Council Office.’
