Icon has partnered with the Chartered Institute for Architectural Technologists, the Chartered Institute of Building, and the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists to develop ‘The Arc’.

Icon writes (30 Sept 2024):

Advocating for the importance of commissioning Accredited Conservator-Restorers is a key priority for Icon. We understand that for many clients and commissioners, finding the right professional can be a challenge.

This issue is not unique to the conservation profession; it is a challenge across the entire heritage sector. Like many challenges, it is best addressed through partnerships, with allied groups speaking in a unified voice to drive needed change and create a greater impact.

This is why we are proud to be a founding member of ‘The Arc’, a new online service that helps clients and commissioners make informed decisions and quickly find the right Accredited heritage professional to care for their collection or building. Alongside Icon, the founding partners of The Arc include:

  • Chartered Institute for Architectural Technologists
  • Chartered Institute for Archaeologists
  • Chartered Institute of Building

…. As part of our commitment to improving the use of skilled heritage professionals across the heritage sector, we have also begun reviewing the Conservation Register to better support our members and ensure that clients and commissioners can easily find the right conservator-restorer with the necessary skills to complete their projects to the high standards expected in the conservation profession. Plans for the revamped register will be shared early in 2025.
