Alastair Godfrey

Alastair Godfrey is Head of Major Projects and has been responsible for the delivery of this flagship project for Historic England. Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, known as the ‘grandparent of skyscrapers’, has undergone an 8-year renovation facilitated by £20.7 million National Lottery funding, following 35 years of closure. The redevelopment of the site has been led by Historic England and The Friends of Shrewsbury Flaxmill, and four buildings have now been fully restored; the Smithy, Stables, Main Mill and Kiln. Those attending the IHBC Annual School 2025 in June will also have the opportunity to get a closer look at the site, as it is one of the featured Thursday and Saturday tours for full school delegates.
