IHBC West Midlands Branch Chair Imogen Wood said: ‘It would be hard to find a better way to access invaluable – and great value – current, practical and professional heritage CPD than to sign up for this year’s IHBC Annual School.’

‘Shrewsbury is a magnificent example of the English Market Town, and a perfect setting to explore the intricacies of our School theme for 2025: ‘Heritage in Context’.  Our Branch’s carefully planned site visits and tours will explore heritage in the town and region – both as it stands today and its prospects.  Visiting delegates also will enjoy exceptional networking and other learning opportunities, including an exciting range of exhibitors at the Day School, for both advice and questioning.’

‘And if you can’t make it here in person, why not sign up for the ‘Virtual’ Day School.  This provides a packed day of presentations, from some of the sector’s most influential and experienced speakers as well as new names taking new angles on critical issues.  You won’t find better value CPD than that!’

Duncan Wilson OBE, Chief Executive at Historic England, appearing online, will welcome and take questions from delegates to the Day School, on 13 June.  That day of learning is the centrepiece of the IHBC’s wider Annual School experience, an event that Duncan has described as ‘one of the pre-eminent regular events in the heritage calendar’.

IHBC Chair David McDonald said: ‘Being welcomed by the Chief Executive of the most strategically important heritage body in England is wonderful news at any time.  This year, it is especially critical given the wide range of common issues faced across all nations represented by our Branches: from assessing values in straitened times, to planning ahead and managing changes to maximise benefits, for all, and for the longer term.’

‘The School hones in on aspects of IHBC Competences that even experienced Conservation Professionals find difficult to secure too – both in breadth and depth – so this is a great way to sharpen your skills, and a great value way too!’

‘That is why this School’s CPD opportunity shouldn’t be missed.  Whether you join us on-line or in person, let’s all look for solutions to current heritage challenges in 2025 in June and in Shrewsbury’.

The School programme incorporates:

  • The stand-alone Day School on Friday 13 June, which incorporates our low-cost online ‘Virtual’ School, with a welcome by Duncan Wilson OBE, Chief Executive at Historic England
  • For Full School delegates (residential and non-residential), School tours, on Thursday 12 June and Saturday 14 June, as well as an opening Reception on the Thursday evening and the Annual Dinner on the Friday.
