The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is calling on all Engineers and Planners to join the UK’s largest canal restoration project.
Wilts & Berks Canal Trust writes on Facebook:
The UK’s 2000-mile canal network is one of the marvels of 19th-century civil engineering. It powered the Industrial Revolution and continues to deliver enormous wellbeing and economic benefits.
Now, you have the chance to be part of its revival!
The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is undertaking one of the largest canal restoration projects in the UK, and we need experienced Engineers and Planners to help bring this vision to life.
Major engineering projects include:
- Constructing a new canal route around Melksham (The Melksham Link).
- Building a canal access route under the M4
- Ensuring sustainable water resources
- Restoring 70 miles of canal, towpaths, and heritage structures
We are urgently recruiting for several volunteer roles, including:
- Engineering Director – overseeing all engineering and planning activity
- Branch Lead Engineers – managing engineering projects in regional branches
- Branch Engineers – working closely with volunteers on restoration and maintenance
- Planning Engagement Volunteers – helping assist with submissions and appeals.
