IHBC’s April ‘CPD Circular’: Accessible, cost-conscious learning, events, awards, calls and more, with Schools, School webinars, Sustainability, Branches & much more

IHBC’s April CPD Circular offers our current listing of accessible, cost-effective ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD) opportunities for historic and built environment conservation professionals and their networks, with the usual range of Branch and network events, publications, awards and more.

IHBC writes (1 April 2025):

In this April issue, we are pleased to highlight several upcoming events taking place across the UK in the coming months.

The IHBC are delighted to support the upcoming ICOMOS-UK and University of Liverpool Symposium on 11th April, ‘Heritage in Transition: Skills and Approaches for Sustainability’ which will be available online or in person at the University of Liverpool. This one-day symposium will explore the evolving relationship between heritage preservation and sustainability with a focus on how we can sustainably adapt and retrofit heritage buildings to improve energy efficiency, enhance thermal comfort, and meet affordability needs while preserving their heritage values.

At the beginning of April, the Wales Branch is hosting an in-person event on Curtilage, led by Charles Mynors, in central Cardiff, to include lunch and networking. Meanwhile, the Scotland Branch will be in Dumfries for their event, ‘Refining Place: The Role of Heritage and Regeneration’, on the 24th April, and the East Midlands Branch will be hosting an event on ‘Fire Safety in Traditional and Historic Buildings’, in Newark, on the 28th.

Looking further ahead, the North Branch will be in Newcastle for their event ‘Power to All People: The Listed Byker Estate in 2025’ on May 1st, and then it’s back to the Scotland Branch in June for ‘Finding the Balance: Built Heritage & Landscape Conservation in Development Planning’ on the 20th.
