Belated Happy New Year to all at the South East Branch.
Well, the last six months have been reasonably quiet on the IHBC South East Branch event front but our dedicated and fun packed committee(!) has still been busy behind the scenes preparing to organise lots more events for a packed calendar this year.
It was always very difficult, as our region covers Surrey, West and East Sussex to Kent to find venues that will suit everybody and therefore we tend to move around. Last year we had events at Eastbourne Eco Hub and Canterbury University for our AGM. This coming year we are planning on moving around again with our AGM and Day School, March 28….. planned in Reigate on the subject of stone.
I really urge people to book this because it’s a great way of getting your CPD hours up and also sharing stories among peers.
We are also looking to organise more online events to supplement our in-person events so that this will enable people to access more personal CPDs connected to our region. I know that for me, being in private practice, getting to know conservation officers has been invaluable, driving the standard of my work up and helping me understand the other side from the local authority, and hopefully this acts vice versa. At the end of the day, we are all on the side of heritage and strive for the best we can achieve despite difficulties with client’s expectations, tight budgets and driven timescales.
