IHBC’s SelfStarter opens accessible learning to all: On our Home Page, with new branding, updates & more for emerging Conservation Professionals – so say what more you need

The IHBC’s SelfStarter hub – our ‘quick guide to conservation online’, targeting emerging Conservation Professionals but open to all – has just benefited from a refresh, with new branding and more, and as that’s just the start our update, just let us know what more you need.

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: ‘The SelfStarter is a wide-ranging hub connecting self-directed learning and career guidance from across our website.’

‘And as we say there, please do ‘… take a few minutes to see how the UK’s lead body for built and historic environment conservation can help you learn, earn and have fun!’

‘We’ve refined our profile since this was first developed – helped not least by a focus inspired by our Charter explorations – so before we do more, we want to gather thoughts, so please do feed these back to us’.

So, regardless of your skills, after you’ve looked though our light refresh, please use the ‘final’ panel, on ‘PERSPECTIVES & FEEDBACK’, because – as we say there – we are: ‘Welcoming improvement’!

The IHBC writes:

… The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is the UK’s key professional body for conservation specialists from all skills and disciplines. We aim to help everyone understand more about the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of looking after:

  • . buildings, their fabric, setting and interiors, old and new
  • . places, including gardens and cultural landscapes
  • . and any areas valued for their cultural heritage.

The IHBC is a UK body, but many of the ideas and resources here reflect global values and principles in conservation!

This SelfStarter resource guides students, trainees, researchers and anyone interested in learning more about conservation using the wide range of resources, guidance, opportunities and links available across our website.

The page may be used by anyone interested in learning more about the built and historic environment, whether through learning or volunteering….
