The Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner has written to local authority leaders, Metro Mayors and chief executives about the government’s plan to build the homes the country needs. On 30 July 2024, the government launched a consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and several other changes to the planning system. On 12 December 2024, the government published its response to this consultation alongside an updated National Planning Policy Framework.
