NPPF’s ‘enabling development’ exception allows Suffolk AONB development

Suffolk Coastal District Council has approved plans for nine homes as enabling development to pay for the restoration of Sudbourne Park in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The National Policy Planning Framework (NPPF) says enabling development to secure the future use of heritage assets can be considered as a special circumstance justifying new isolated rural homes.
