The new issue of the membership journal of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) Context is now out, themed around historic interiors.
The latest edition of Context looks at conserving historic interiors. Guest commissioning editor, leading architectural paint researcher Lisa Oestreicher, has brought together articles looking at the conservation of interiors.
An overview of how wallpaper contributes to our understanding and presentation of buildings is provided by Allyson McDermott. Peter Carey explains the investigations into the decoration at Britain’s oldest theatre auditorium, Bristol Theatre Royal. Eleanor John reports on the organisation of domestic space on 17th London and Sarah Kay describes the recreation of the Octagon Room at Attingham Park.
Themed issues of Context also include more general conservation articles as well as key sector updates such as news, book reviews and reports from IHBC’s officers.
The IHBC is always keen to consider suggestions for content and themes, especially proposals for current material relevant to themed issues. Forthcoming themed issues of Context include ‘Sport’ (deadline 14 May) and ‘Market Towns’ (deadline 17 October).
