IHBC signpost to Honours: Members & Branches encouraging nominations to 2024 NY Honours via DCMS’ proforma, to 24/03

logoEngland’s Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport (DCMS), is asking for help in identifying ‘candidates from within [our] sector to be considered for recognition amongst the 2024 New Year (NY) Honours’, closing 24 March, with a simple blank proforma to simplify the process.

DCMS writes: [summarised]

It takes a wide range of talented people across the UK to make our sectors the great success they are. We are reliant on the continued support of organisations like yours, to help us ensure that the efforts of these people are rewarded and celebrated. It has been another extraordinary year with many people making incredible personal contributions. We would particularly welcome nominations for individuals who:

  • provide exceptional service in journalism, for example, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and journalists who also contribute in other services.
  • show exceptional talent and resilience in the creative industries
  • work to widen access to arts and culture across the UK
  • individuals in charities and groups who provide exceptional support locally or nationally, including in the cost of living crisis
  • are involved in grassroots sport
  • are involved in youth work and changing young people’s lives
  • are involved in the Coronation, including organising community events

You may also like to consider people who supported events surrounding Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to level up the UK, we want to ensure that the extraordinary contributions from people across every part of the country are rewarded. This includes those who may be less well known, but will still have made significant positive change to people’s lives. We greatly appreciate the efforts being made by organisations like yours to increase the number of nominations for those who are typically under-represented. The only way to ensure that these candidates are fully represented on any honours list is for us to continue to receive those nominations.

If you would like to nominate someone, please complete the attached form and submit it to honours@dcms.gov.uk by 24 March 2023. The nomination form remains the same as in recent rounds. As usual we will need the nominee’s full name, date of birth, nationality, address and contact details in order to progress the nomination. A nomination cannot be put forward without these details.

We appreciate that you may want to amplify the opportunity to nominate amongst your wider stakeholder groups and we very much welcome you doing so….

The DCMS Honours Team are on hand to answer any queries you may have about this or any aspect of the honours process at honours@dcms.gov.uk.
