Cadw’s Historic Environment Update No 23 highlights the Senedd Debate on the Historic Environment (Wales) Bill  on 17/01 and the ‘Public Commemoration..: Guidance for Public Bodies’ consultation closing 21/02.

The Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee published its report on the Historic Environment (Wales) Bill on 23 December 2022. The detailed report, which reflected the Committee’s careful scrutiny of the legislation, made fourteen recommendations and drew five conclusions. From the Bill Team’s point of view, the Committee’s most important recommendation is that the Bill should proceed as a Consolidation Bill.

The Senedd Cymru will now debate and vote on whether the Bill should proceed to the next stage on 17 January 2023.

… Public Commemoration in Wales: Guidance for Public Bodies

A twelve-week public consultation on Public Commemoration in Wales: Guidance for Public Bodies will remain open until midnight on 21 February 2023. This best-practice guidance for various public bodies is intended to help them reach well-informed decisions about existing and future public commemorations and supports the Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan.
