Call in for Make’s South Bank redevelopment

Secretary of State Greg Clark has called in Make’s redevelopment of the former ITV Studios on London’s South Bank after strong opposition.

In a letter seen by the AJ sent by the Secretary of State… (31 August) to Kate Hoey… Clark confirmed that a public inquiry would be held shortly.

Hoey, along with current Vauxhall MP Florence Eshalomi, had lobbied Clark to call in the controversial proposal….

A separate letter sent by Clark’s department to Lambeth Council said he was particularly concerned about the heritage implications of the Make scheme and whether aspects including its ‘scale and massing’ were consistent with government planning policy on conserving and enhancing the historic environment.
