IHBC London Branch Conference: 5 Oct 2011

IHBC’s London Branch has announced the launch of its annual conference, to take place on 5 October 2011 at its usual impressive location, the Royal College of Physicians, and covering the theme ‘Challenging Conservation: Heritage at the Crossroads‘

IHBC London Branch Chair David McDonald said: ‘This year will see the continuation of our ground-breaking conferences, as we confront the daunting challenges faced by IHBC’s members and wider professional interests’.

‘We’re looking forward to hosting a substantial day of relevant training for delegates.  The conference will provide a comprehensive opportunity for interested professionals from all disciplines to get bang up to date on current conservation issues. We’ll also provide a unique networking opportunity for delegates to make contact with other key players across private, public and third sectors!’

Lead organiser and IHBC vice-chair Sheila Stones described the conference as follows: ‘Our speakers will examine the changing aspects of conservation today, from how PPS5 is being used today – including significance and proportionality – to ‘Localism’ in practice and changing practices in listing, notably Local Lists.  We will also use case studies to illustrate current practice, so that practitioners from any background can see how things work on the ground, while also enjoying a remarkable Grade I listed building and award-winning conference venue, all at the most cost-effective rates around.’

Rates are £96 for IHBC members (Full, Affiliate and Associate) and £145 for non-members.
