Europa Nostra and Culture Action Europe are inviting all those who care about heritage and the arts in Europe to sign their petition, ‘We Are More’, which aims to highlight to policymakers the value of European cultural activities, in advance of the financial negotiations for the period 2014-2020.
In July EU policymakers will take decisions on the EU budget that will influence the next ten years of support for cultural activities. Direct support for arts and culture currently represents 0.05 per cent of the total EU budget.
The ‘We Are More’ campaign states
To national governments – to European decision-makers: We call on you to strengthen the recognition of the role of arts and culture in the development of our European societies by increasing the support to culture in the next EU budget.
