A UK survey currently under circulation by the Church of England, among others, registers the scale of Faith group activities across society, including their roles in supporting and enabling the care of places of worship.
Becky Paine, Policy Officer at the Cathedral and Church Buildings Division of the Church of England, said: ‘These results show what a huge contribution faith groups are already making to their local communities and that faith groups are already ‘doing’ Big Society in very practical ways and reaching out to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. We know that national Government does recognise this contribution and that these surveys have been a vital part in giving us a seat at the table, and we now, like the rest of the community and voluntary sector are waiting to see what opportunities the new Government landscape will bring in terms of empowerment, support and potential to do more.’
