A controversial seaside house branded an ‘eyesore’ will not have to be demolished, even though the building is larger than the original consent.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority wanted the property near Newport pulled down but the owner successfully appealed the enforcement order and the rejection of a retrospective planning application.
Bettws Newydd, a large house nearing completion, is larger than the original permission granted in 2006 for the site on an area of the coast known as the Parrog.
The planning inspector said: “In determining both appeals, I am bound to attach considerable weight to the fact that there is an extant planning permission for a new dwelling on the site.”
