William Morris Society seeks new voluntary Magazine Editor

websiteThe William Morris Society is looking for a new Magazine Editor for its triannual publication.

The William Morris Society writes:

With the approaching departure of our Magazine Editor we are looking for someone to take on the role. The William Morris Society Magazine is published three times a year and is the Society’s most comprehensive method of communicating with our membership. It includes features on Morris and his immediate and wider circles, and covers a range of relevant news including updates on the Society’s activities and Morris-related events.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring fresh ideas to the Magazine. We are looking for someone with a desire to communicate all aspects of Morris’s life and works, who can both commission articles and manage submissions from our members. This person should have editorial experience, ideally in illustrated publications, an excellent grasp of written English, complete familiarity with Microsoft Word, some familiarity with Photoshop and the ability to liaise with the designer over page layouts. Experience of picture research will be an advantage.

The editorship is an unpaid post but travel and subsistence costs to attend committee meetings and other out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Our hope is that the role will be filled by someone who can continue to inspire the wide appreciation of Morris’s multifaceted career, and foster fellowship between Society members. We would want to have someone in place following the publication in February of the Spring 2019 issue. For an informal discussion about the post, or to obtain a sample copy of the Magazine please email the current editor, Susan Warlow:

susanwarlow.morris@gmail.com. Letters of application stating your relevant experience and abilities should be emailed to societymanager@williammorrissociety.org.uk
