CIC consults on Conservation Standard


Construction Industry Council (CIC) has been leading a project to revise the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Town Planning, Conservation and Building Control, and are now consulting on the recently revised Town Planning, Conservation and Building Control Technical Support NOS, with a closing date of 15 November.

The work is being led by the in conjunction with key sector interests, on behalf of, and as a partner in, ConstructionSkills.  These NOS have been developed by industry practitioners and is supported by the relevant professional institutions and employer bodies.  CIC is now seeking confirmation from the sector that the revised standards meet industry needs.  If you have used the original qualification, or have an interest in using the newly reformed versions (notably candidates, employers, assessors and verifiers) we would like to hear from you.

These Town Planning, Conservation and Building Control Technical Support NOS are relevant for practitioners in a variety of support roles.  This may involve dealing with a variety of projects in terms of size, type and complexity whether submitting/assessing applications, or advising/organising projects. They might therefore come from Local Authorities, other public organisations, approved inspector backgrounds or the private sector.

It would be much appreciated if you could review the revised Standards.  Your feedback is needed and welcomed to confirm or suggest potential improvements to the units to make them more appropriate and usable.  If you are satisfied with the content of the units and have no need to answer in detail, please confirm this.

The closing date for the consultation is the 15th November 2010.
