Successful LB prosecution

The London Borough of Richmond, dealing with the listed building prosecution at 3 Church Street, Twickenham, has been notified that the appeal has been dropped.

With the hearing due to take place at Kingston Crown Court, after some strong advice from the Judge, who reminded the appellant of the seriousness of the offences and the ability of the Crown Court to increase the sentence, the appeal was abandoned, with the appellant required to make a payment to the Borough of the sum of £10,000 for its costs of defending the Crown Court appeal, at the rate of £125 per week, all to be paid within 80 weeks.  The Magistrate’s Decision is to remain the decision of the court in the prosecution (£22,500 fines + £6,015 costs).
