Doug Evans, Chair of the ICOMOS-UK Wood Committee, and Vice President (Europe), ICOMOS International Wood Committee said: ‘We are trying to put historic timber back ‘on the map’ again – both here in the UK with the new ICOMOS-UK wood committee, and internationally by updating the ‘Principles’.’
‘We are hoping that by getting the new ‘Principles ‘ out to as wide an audience as possible this will help to promote and encourage a broader appreciation and understanding of wooden heritage – that is our mission after all.’
ICOMOS writes:
The IIWC is looking forward to working with individuals, institutions and organisations around the world to encourage and promote the dissemination and use of the 2017 Principles, to work on its adaptation to specific cultures, and to apply it in the work ICOMOS does to advance the application of theory, methodology, and scientific techniques to the conservation and protection of our cultural heritage.
