York Press reports that a Planning Committee councillor stayed away from a key meeting recently in protest at a suspensions row, and now campaigners seek to use this and tight vote as grounds for challenging the decision.

Independent Cllr Mark Warters absented himself from the planning committee meeting on Wednesday – a meeting that saw the controversial plan to demolish the Carlton Tavern pub approved by just one vote. Now campaigners fighting the Carlton Tavern demolition have said the tight vote and missing councillor is one reason they could launch a Judicial Review to fight the decision through the courts…
