Minister for Heritage and Tourism John Penrose announced a range of listing decisions last week (9 August).
Three new listings were announced for: the Darul Ummah Community Centre, Tower Hamlets (London), the Dunboyne Road housing estate, Camden (London) and the Branch Hill housing estate, Camden (London). The Camden estates were built in the seventies and have been listed due to their special architectural interest. The Darul Ummah Community Centre was listed on the grounds of special architectural and historical interest.
Mr Penrose also rejected two listings: the former Horwich Locomotive works in Bolton, and the Maiden Lane housing estate in Camden, London. In addition Westbury Lane Bridge, near Reading, had its listed status removed and previous decisions not to list 24-26 Hereford Square and 2C-2D Belsize Park Gardens, both in London, were upheld.
