From cycling to commuting, housing to land ownership and the digital economy – this year’s RTPI Awards for Research Excellence shortlist reflects the depth and breadth of planning research.

Seventeen research projects are competing across five categories: Planning Consultancy Award, Academic Award, Early Career Researcher Award, Student Award, and the Sir Peter Hall Award for Wider Engagement.

The Awards recognise and promote high quality, impactful spatial planning research from RTPI accredited planning schools, and planning consultancies around the world. This year’s shortlist includes research from across the UK, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia and the United States.

The winners will be announced on 12 September during the 2017 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference in Belfast.
