IHBC’s ‘Top HESPR pick’ of the week: Blackpool Council seeks structural engineer for Tower refurb, valued up to £200k, closing 27/04

The IHBC’s heritage business listing, HESPR – the Historic Environment Service Providers Recognition scheme – offers members weekly Bulletins that bring tender and other business opportunities together into one handy resource, and the Director’s top pick for NewsBlog readers this week features a call from Blackpool Council for a structural engineer to carry out work relating to the refurbishment of the Blackpool Tower Steel Structure, valued at £150,000-250,000 and closing 27 April.

Top tender pick of the week:

The IHBC Director’s top pick from the HESPR Bulletin for this week is a call from Blackpool Council relating to work on the refurbishment of the Blackpool Tower Steel Structure.  The Council seeks ‘A Structural Engineering Consultant that will be able to carry out structural inspections and surveys of the existing steel structure, provide guidance and deliver works in relation to the listed and historic fabric. These services will range from advisory and feasibility work through to a full design and supervisory service. The contract of engagement will be the NEC3 professional services. To include: site visits to inspect the full tower via various access points every 6 months; yearly review of the Tower main legs using CCTV Cameras fed down the internal legs and via rope access; supervision of the works that were omitted from the original Blackpool Tower Painting contract and; identification of Future work required’. The call closes on 27 April is valued at £150,000-250,000.’
