The IHBC’s West Midland Branch is contributing to the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Conservation Areas by organising a CPD Day on 9 March, followed by their AGM and an afternoon tour of Coventry examples.
West Midland Branch Secretary Ben Williscroft said: ‘Related to the 50th anniversary of the Civic Amenities Act 1967, this CPD event concentrates on the future role and purpose of conservation areas including their management. During the course of the day we will also discuss the de-designation of conservation areas and the issues that raises as well as discussion on local case studies and their management’.
The event will be held in Coventry and main highlights include:
- ’50 Years On: the role and purpose of the conservation area now’ Pete Boland, Historic England
- ‘De-designation of Conservation Areas’ Ross Brazier & Andy Fuller, Principal Conservation Officers, Birmingham City Council:
- ‘Coventry case studies’ Chris Patrick, Conservation and Archaeology Officer, Coventry City Council.
