IHBC reminder: Civic Voice Design Awards close 14 Feb

The IHBC reminds members that submissions for England’s Civic Voice Design Awards closes on 14 February.

Ian Harvey, Executive Director at Civic Voice, reports:

‘How exciting that the Civic Voice Design Awards are back again this year’, said, Max Farrell, Partner at Farrells.  Here at Civic Voice, we are as excited as Max Farrell who today told a packed audience in Parliament that he is pleased to see that the Civic Voice Design Awards are back again for another year.  Speaking at the debate on neighbourhood planning, Max Farrell said: What I really like about the Civic Voice Design Awards is that they are the people’s choice for architecture and the built environment. They are national awards which have been nominated by local community organisation like civic societies, resident’s group, town and parish councils and other community groups, rather than the industry. They recognise those buildings, places and spaces that are loved by local people. They show that communities will accept new development.’

The Civic Voice Design Awards show that people are willing to welcome the new developments we need when they have been properly consulted and involved and where the quality of design has been of the highest standard.  Deadline for nominations is 14th February 2017.

The application round for entries is currently open and we are asking if you and are proud of developments in your area? If you are, nominate them for a Civic Voice Design Award. Whether it is a restoration of a local church through to a million pound development, we want to hear from you. What makes these awards special is that it is you and your community who apply!
