The renowned Journal of the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland (AHSS) – Scotland’s only national amenity society for the historic built environment – is under threat following the withdrawal of former government funding and despite efforts to secure alternative support for this ‘invaluable resource for Scotland’s conservation sector.
AHSS President Simon Green writes:
‘… in 2015 financial assistance for AHSS publications was withdrawn and the Society has made great efforts since to source funding from elsewhere. This has proven difficult and unfortunately the Society ids now unable to offer any commitment for future journals after the XXVII edition….
… the journal is the only peer-reviewed publication of new architectural heritage research in the country and, as such, is an invaluable resource for Scotland’s conservation sector… its future is now at risk.’
