To understand the barriers to people entering the CIOB’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA), and to encourage those who might not previously have considered it, CIOB will be holding an evening networking event at the Building Centre in 26 Store Street, London on 31January 2017.
The evening is free but booking is essential.
The CIOB writes:
The CIOB are looking to engage with members of under-represented groups to help us lead the way in showcasing the very best managers working in the construction industry
Please join us for networking drinks on 31st January, to see if you could be one of the next stars of construction. CMYA is one of the highest profile events celebrating leadership and management in the UK construction industry and reached over five million people on twitter alone this year. CMYA highlights individual excellence and it is rigorously judged and completely independent. Whether you are from a large company or a small, working on major projects or small refurbishments, on site or in the office, you have an equal chance of winning; only excellence counts.
Although the 2016 Awards were a great success with many really exceptional entries, we were disappointed that we did not receive entries from a representative cross section of the industry, for example, we did not have any entries from women this year. The CIOB is keen to encourage more entries from members of groups who are under-represented in construction including women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender individuals.
Please join us for drinks and canapes to give us your ideas on how you could help CIOB increase the diverse representation in our initiatives, including these awards.
