The annual Design Award from Civic Voice – England’s link body for Civic groups – celebrating well-designed new build, heritage and public realm projects, has been launched, with a closing date 14 February 2017, and to mark the 50th anniversary of Conservation Area legislation there will also be a special prize this year for a development within a Conservation Area.
Projects can be nominated by local community organisations to recognise those buildings, places and spaces that are loved by local people, for both their high-quality design and positive impact on the local community.
Previous winners include the All Souls Church in Bolton, which won the Restoration category in 2015.
The categories are:
- New buildings
- Housing – less than 50 dwellings
- Housing – 50 dwellings or more

To mark the 50th anniversary of Conservation Area legislation in 2017, there will also be a special prize this year for a development within a Conservation Area, which could be awarded from any of the above categories.
