IHBC’s Election Manifesto: Making Better places

The IHBC has launched a ‘Manifesto for Places’ highlighting the issues that any government, or government in partnership must address.

IHBC Chair Dave Chetwyn said: “It is easy to overlook heritage in the context of global recession, climate change and security.  Yet heritage delivers substantial benefits at local level for real people and communities.  It helps urban and rural areas to transform and delivers more effective, inclusive and sustainable forms of economic development and regeneration. It should not be underestimated. This is why the IHBC was produced an election statement, highlighting the public benefits that heritage provides and suggesting priorities for heritage for whichever party forms the next government.”

IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: “We’re delighted to be able to join the election debate and, in our manifesto, to highlight how historic places can secure successful sustainable communities.”
