Scottish town centres have been allocated £1.7 million under the Town Centre Communities Capital Fund, including funding for a historic theatre in Ayrshire.
The Scottish Government writes:
A £1.7 million fund will help communities across Scotland revitalise their areas, Social Justice Secretary Alex Neil announced today. The Cabinet Secretary revealed offers have gone out to 21 town centre groups which will help communities deliver capital projects.
Investment through the Town Centre Communities Capital Fund (TCCCF) will be split between projects aimed at revitalising Kilsyth main street, converting a derelict warehouse into a community facility in Helensburgh and renovating the Ayr Gaiety theatre.
On Monday Mr Neil will visit CVS Inverclyde which will receive £60,000 to help breathe new life into Greenock’s Cathcart Street. The funding will be used to develop a Greenock Community Hub which will offer office accommodation, training spaces and information and advice services to people in the area.
