This new award for the North East, part of the Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards, seeks to recognise schemes which may include conservation, improvement and enhancement which has significantly improved the aesthetic quality of the building/project, the repair or restoration of a listed building; the alteration, improvement or extension of a listed building or similar or the improvement to external spaces, gardens and courtyards.
The judges will be looking for evidence of team members trained in heritage skills including the use of traditional methods and materials.
Winners are selected across 12 categories including innovation, integration, value and sustainability and go on to compete in the National Constructing Excellence Awards, held every year in the autumn.
The 2010 awards will be held on Friday 7th May at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel.
