{"id":991,"date":"2010-01-22T13:20:35","date_gmt":"2010-01-22T13:20:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=991"},"modified":"2010-03-24T13:20:51","modified_gmt":"2010-03-24T13:20:51","slug":"ann-skippers-new-rtpi-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=991","title":{"rendered":"Ann Skippers new RTPI president"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Planning consultant and planning  inspector Ann Skippers has become President of the Royal Town Planning  Institute (RTPI) in succession to Martin Willey.<\/p>\n<p>Ann, who runs a  planning consultancy with her husband, lives in Chelmsford, Essex, and  is currently Senior Vice President. She has more than 20 years&#8217;  experience in planning and planning education, and specialises in  planning appeal work, troubleshooting, training and also works as a  non-salaried Planning Inspector. She will be President for 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Ann  Skippers said: &#8220;I\u2019m delighted to become RTPI President, particularly in  an election year, when it will be even more crucial to champion the  value of planning and planners, on behalf of the profession. Over the  course of the next 12 months, I want to raise the image and profile of  planning and to help to support RTPI members. Promoting planning as a  career to young people is also something I am very passionate about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ann\u2019s  priorities for her presidency will be:<\/p>\n<p>* Raising the image  and profile of planning;<br \/>\n* Making the benefits of planning more  visible by raising the profile of what planners do;<br \/>\n* Working  more closely with the other built environment professions;<br \/>\n*  Working with schools and colleges to promote planning as a career; and<br \/>\n*  Encouraging RTPI members to be more active within the Institute.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.rtpi.org.uk\/item\/3307\/23\/5\/3\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rtpi.org.uk\/item\/3307\/23\/5\/3\">Link to RTPI Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Planning consultant and planning inspector Ann Skippers has become President of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) in succession to Martin Willey.
