{"id":9778,"date":"2015-03-13T19:37:37","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T19:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=9778"},"modified":"2015-03-13T19:37:37","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T19:37:37","slug":"new-house-of-lords-built-environment-select-committee-proposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9778","title":{"rendered":"New House of Lords built environment select committee proposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Placemaking and built environment policy are to be explored in a House of Lords select committee after the general election as a bid for the new, cross-party select committee was submitted by Baroness Janet Whittaker, the vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group, and Baroness Kay Andrews, following discussions with the team that produced last year\u2019s Farrell Review.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Horticulture Week writes:<br \/>\n<\/span>The review called for more interconnectivity between Government departments, institutions, agencies and professions that shape the built environment and an integral role for landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Farrell Review, Sir Terry Farrell said: \u2018I wholeheartedly welcome the creation of a Select Committee for the Built Environment and am enormously grateful to Baroness Janet Whitaker for all she has done to secure it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The stewardship, long-term planning and identity of real places should be a fundamental part of built environment policy.
