{"id":9674,"date":"2015-02-27T18:27:43","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T18:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=9674"},"modified":"2015-02-27T18:27:43","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T18:27:43","slug":"ihbc-scotland-branch-affiliates-support-seminar-in-stirling-13-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9674","title":{"rendered":"IHBC Scotland Branch: Affiliates support seminar in Stirling &#8211; 13 March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Scotland Branch of the IHBC is offering Affiliates and, subject to availability, interested colleagues, places at a free seminar advising on how to develop applications for professional membership of the institute, with the 2-hour seminar programme taking place over the later afternoon of 13 March in Stirling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>IHBC\u2019s Scotland Branch Chair Jane Jackson said:\u00a0 \u2018The Scotland Branch Committee wants to encourage all IHBC affiliates to move to full membership, though we are aware that some of our members find the paperwork and process daunting.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Attending our Stirling Affiliates\u2019 event, which is a free event on the afternoon of 13 March, will help to increase clarity about the IHBC professional and practical competencies.\u00a0 It will also offer our affiliate members and any colleagues present, confidence in their abilities and experience to progress to full membership.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018This initiative is an important aspect of the IHBC \u2018stepping stones\u2019 programme, agreed at our 2013 AGM in Carlisle.\u00a0 Here the IHBC takes the initiative on behalf of the historic environment sector, and proactively supports the professional career progress of our members with events like these as well as new membership structures.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Seminars such as these will introduce Affiliates \u2013 the entry grade in IHBC membership \u2013 to how they can get recognition, and branding, from the IHBC for their conservation skills.\u00a0 As a professional body, achieving this quality assurance is neither quick nor easy, but these events \u2013 which we are rolling out across the UK \u2013 offer invaluable, and complimentary support for our members, current and future\u2019.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IHBC\u2019s \u2018LETS\u2019 Liaison Officer Kate Kendall, who will be leading the day, said: \u2018We encourage you to come along to the seminars as they are invaluable in guiding the more nervous through the application process.
