{"id":9374,"date":"2015-01-21T17:46:53","date_gmt":"2015-01-21T17:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=9374"},"modified":"2015-01-21T17:46:53","modified_gmt":"2015-01-21T17:46:53","slug":"call-for-entries-riba-norman-foster-travelling-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9374","title":{"rendered":"Call for entries- RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship is now open for entries, with a deadline of 24 April, offering architecture students the opportunity to travel and research <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a matter relating to \u2018the survival of our cities and towns\u2019<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) writes:<br \/>\n<\/span>The 2015 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship has launched and is inviting applications from schools of architecture around the world. A \u00a36,000 grant will be awarded to one student by a panel of judges which includes Lord Foster and the President of the RIBA Stephen Hodder.<\/p>\n<p>Lord Foster said: &#8216;As a student I won a prize that allowed me to spend a summer travelling through Europe and to study first hand buildings and cities that I knew only from the pages of books. It was a revelation \u2013 liberating and exhilarating in so many ways. Today it is my privilege to fund the RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship, which I hope will have a lasting legacy \u2013 offering the chance for discovery and the inspiration for exciting new work \u2013 for generations to come.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>RIBA President Stephen Hodder said: &#8216;I urge our RIBA student members to take full advantage of this wonderful opportunity provided by Lord Foster. The scholarship has been a vehicle for some remarkable pieces of work and I&#8217;m looking forward to reviewing the submissions.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is Friday 24 April 2015.
