In June 2008, local authorities agreed Local Area Agreements (LAAs) with Government and their partners.<\/p>\n
The LAAs include targets to improve public services and the quality of life for people living and working in the area.<\/p>\n
Local authorities chose up to 35 targets from a possible 198 in the National Indicator Set (the set has since been reduced to 188 in April 2008) .<\/p>\n
DCMS has four National Indicators (NIs) within the Set:<\/p>\n
NI 8 Participation in sport and active recreation
\nNI 9 Use of public libraries
\nNI 10 Visits to museums and galleries
\nNI 11 Engagement in the arts<\/p>\n
Data for these indicators is being collected via Sport England\u2019s Active People survey.<\/p>\n
