{"id":9230,"date":"2014-12-20T15:56:49","date_gmt":"2014-12-20T15:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=9230"},"modified":"2014-12-20T15:56:49","modified_gmt":"2014-12-20T15:56:49","slug":"ukip-pledges-abolition-of-20-vat-on-lb-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9230","title":{"rendered":"UKIP pledges abolition of 20% VAT on LB repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) has announced that it pledges to abolish the 20% VAT rate on Listed Building (LB) repairs introduced in the 2012 Budget, and instead replace it with a rate of 5%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Heritage Alliance writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nThe announcement was made by UKIP Heritage spokesman, William Cash, on 8th December 2014 in a news item on the UKIP website. William Cash Jr, the son of Conservative veteran, Bill Cash MP, was appointed as Heritage Spokesperson for UKIP in October 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he said: \u2018None of the parties, other than UKIP, are committed to abolishing the\u00a0VAT rate pledge in their manifestos.\u00a0 Abolishing the 20% VAT rate is essential for maintaining Britain\u2019s\u00a0historic architectural heritage, which is the envy of the world.\u00a0 Many buildings, from castles to cottages are crumbling away whilst\u00a0the Treasury unfairly rewards developers of new buildings with zero\u00a0VAT rates\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the run-up to the General Election 2015, UKIP has also pledged a number of policy positions broadly affecting the heritage sector.
