{"id":8964,"date":"2014-11-19T16:48:22","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T16:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=8964"},"modified":"2014-11-19T16:48:22","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T16:48:22","slug":"kids-takeover-as-museums-and-castle-custodians-for-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8964","title":{"rendered":"Kids takeover as museums and castle custodians for the day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A nationwide project run by the charity \u2018Kids in Museums\u2019 saw hundreds of historic sites and museums in England and Wales being \u2018taken over\u2019 by children for the day, offering them an insight into what it is like to be a museum curator or historic castle curator and using their creative ideas to run the sites for the day on November 13<\/span><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CADW writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nSchoolchildren across Wales are being given the rare opportunity to step into the shoes of custodians at some of Wales\u2019s most significant historic sites on Thursday 13 November, as Cadw, the Welsh Government\u2019s historic environment service, invites them to take the helm at six of its sites in celebration of Taking Over Museums Day 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Year Five and Six pupils from Ysgol Tan y Castell in Gwynedd are one of six groups selected to take part in the project, having been tasked with staging a takeover of Harlech Castle.<\/p>\n<p>Having spent several weeks preparing, the children \u2013 aged between nine and 11 \u2013 will become Harlech Castle custodians for the day;
