{"id":8961,"date":"2014-11-14T17:06:55","date_gmt":"2014-11-14T17:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=8961"},"modified":"2015-04-03T17:10:22","modified_gmt":"2015-04-03T16:10:22","slug":"ihbcs-ni-branch-committee-elected-following-belfast-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8961","title":{"rendered":"IHBC&#8217;s NI Branch Committee elected following Belfast AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 418px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/B2RQhVaIAAEc3YO.jpg:large\" alt=\"IHBC NI Branch AGM\" width=\"408\" height=\"304\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">IHBC NI Branch AGM<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Northern Ireland (NI) Branch of the IHBC has elected its new committee, including Andrew McCLelland as Chair and Jill Kerry as Branch representative and IHBC trustee, at its 2014 AGM, held as part of a programme at Clifton House in Belfast on Wednesday and hosted jointly by the IHBC and the institute&#8217;s Northern Ireland Branch<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC president Trefor Thorpe, who chaired the proceedings said: \u2018It is great to see such enthusiasm for the rejuvenation of the Branch coming from across the conservation and heritage sector, not to mention a whole new generation of practitioners with a real interest in the IHBC\u2019s work and activities. \u00a0With an exciting new committee in place, populated by IHBC supporters both new and old, we are well placed to make a difference in 2015 and beyond.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I would also like to thank Branch members Dawson Stelfox and Alastair Coey for their fascinating presentations, which gave such a practical focus to the evening.\u00a0 Each offered their own perspectives on current challenges and priorities for architects and other practitioners in Northern Ireland, usefully framing future priorities for the Branch\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>NI Branch Chair Andrew McClelland said: \u2018There\u2019s a lot of challenges out there for us all, not least concerning our new arrangements for local government.\u00a0 I\u2019m delighted to say that the Branch is already getting to grips with how the IHBC can best contribute to these developments, including by hosting an event focussed on these changes before they actually take place next year.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018The evening programme offered both learning opportunities and a warm welcome of food and refreshments for members and interested colleagues, all at the magnificent venue of Belfast&#8217;s Clifton House. \u00a0It all served as a clear demonstration of just how the new capacity offered by our LETS Liaison Officer, Kate Kendall, can make such a difference to the work of our Branch volunteers.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Having Kate on hand and working in partnership with the Branch, with Jill Kerry in particular, we have successfully helped re-launch the Branch, including a full AGM, within three months of her appointment. \u00a0I think we can look forward to a comparable lift coming to all Branches and their volunteers though our \u2018Learning, Education, Training and Standards\u2019, or \u2018LETS\u2019, initiative.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/branches\/nireland\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">NI Branch website<\/a>\u00a0with details to be updated soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Ireland (NI) Branch of the IHBC has elected its new committee, including Andrew McCLelland as Chair and Jill Kerry as Branch representative and IHBC trustee, at its 2014 AGM, held as part of a programme at Clifton House &hellip;
