{"id":8949,"date":"2014-11-14T16:48:34","date_gmt":"2014-11-14T16:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=8949"},"modified":"2014-11-14T16:48:34","modified_gmt":"2014-11-14T16:48:34","slug":"upgrading-of-listing-of-war-memorials-for-armistice-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8949","title":{"rendered":"Upgrading of listing of war memorials for Armistice Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Six English war memorials have had their listing upgraded, in a review by English Heritage (EH) prior to Armistice Day.<\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">English Heritage writes<\/span>:<br \/>\nEd Vaizey Minister for Heritage, has upgraded the listed status of six of England&#8217;s most iconic war memorials upon the advice of English Heritage. Designed by the leading architects of the day, all of them are a poignant, physical reminder of the sacrifices and loss the First World War brought about. Four have been upgraded to Grade I, the highest possible listing, placing them among the 2.5% of buildings and structures at this grade.
